This generally results in the maps not displaying correctly on the screen or, if they do actually display then the autorouting feature is affected causing the unit to display some rather "interesting routes" ;-) I have never heard of the maps affecting the GPS signal acquisition of a unit. I have not heard of this particular problem before however I do know that the T4A maps can sometimes clash with the Garmap maps when both mapsets are activated at the same time. Your plan to just load the map tiles of the areas that you will be passing through would be the only way of doing it. Angola has not yet been covered on the Garmap mapset. You may want to have a look at the <a href="http://www.gps-shop.co.za/shop/product.asp?pID=405&cID=3" rel="nofollow">Tracks4Africa</a> mapset for 4x4 trail coverage of Angola (it covers a fair bit of Southern Angola). @ Karin

I do not know of anyone else selling the Navigon software at the moment. Garmin will be making their software compatible with third party GPS chips sometime in the future but we don't have a specific date yet. It could be weeks, months or years ;-) Brett
