Hi Pieter

Unfortunately, your Nuvi 200 can not handle the storage, uploading and downloading of routes (these units can only upload and download waypoints). The only available units with this capability at this stage are the Nuvi 7xx series units.

What you can do is to create the route in MapSource on your PC and then only upload the waypoints, that make up that route, to your unit. Once the waypoints are on your unit, you can then recreate the route using the waypoints.

As a late comer I found the video very informative. I purchased my Nuvi 200 in the USA where I used it extensively. Now back in the RSA I have a better knwoledge of my own country and plan my own routes on the PC using mapsource. How do I get the Nuvi to see the routes I downloaded to my memory card? The program downloads it, that I can see and I can see the files on the memory card. The device, however, does not see it. Can yo help?

Thank you and kind regards

@ Shamiel

Hi, the short answer is... No. You need the DVD to load the maps first to your PC and then to your Nuvi unit. You must have been one of the lucky ones who purchased the Nuvi 200 when they still came with the maps preloaded on a SD memory card ;-) The Nuvi 200 units are now sold with the maps preloaded to the internal memory (no SD card in the box).

You will be converting from a "Plug-and-Play" user to a "MapSource" (PC) user when the map updates are released on DVD again anyway (this is the only manner in which map updates are released).
